How to Set and Achieve Your Business Goals

Goal setting and tracking aren’t activities that should be limited to New Year’s Resolutions. Your real estate business can benefit from this year-round, especially if you do it correctly. A Harvard Business study found that those who have goals are 10 times more successful than those without goals. But if you actually write down those goals, you are 3 times more likely to succeed than those with unwritten goals! Get yourself set up for some serious business success.

Set Realistic Goals

If you’ve had an increase in sales of 10% each year for the last 3 years, it might not be reasonable to suddenly expect to grow by 50% this year. It’s still good to push yourself to improve, but make your goals are realistic. When you use IXACT Contact’s Goal Setting and Tracking feature, you will be asked to input information from the previous year. This will help to establish your baseline and to set goals that make sense for you. And when the goals are realistic, you can actually achieve them!

Set Specific Goals

A goal to “improve your sales” sounds great, but it is difficult to achieve since it is so vague. Instead, try committing to making a certain number of phone calls or presentations a week, adding a certain number of contacts a month, or obtaining a specific number of listings in a year. These contribute to the larger goals of improving sales, but are concrete. IXACT Contact makes it very easy to set these specific goals in the Goal Setting & Tracking Wizard. As you work through it, you will be asked about your average numbers in these areas and what you would like to be hitting. It will also allow you to set goals for things like phone calls, adding contacts, or doing popbys.

Track Your Progress

It’s all well and good to set goals, but if you have no idea if you are meeting them they become pretty useless. You should know what progress you have already made toward them, and how much you have left to do at any given time. This can be a tedious task, and so it is often where real estate agents fall off. That’s why IXACT Contact has made this incredibly easy. You can set up your Goal Tracking widgets on your Dashboard, and they will tell you if you have met, exceeded, or fallen short of your goals. These widgets also show you your weekly goals in a snapshot. It does the tedious work for you and displays it in a simple graphic. It will even do it for teams! You’ll never have an excuse for falling short of your goals again.
